Poison Ivy

It creeps it's way up gnarled brown bark

Stripping the leaves off the tree in the park

Choking it's life out, leaving it stark

That murdering creeping ivy

Onward and upward, toward the sky

Of laws and nature it doesn't comply

The ancient old tree it's leaves it will cry

Because of horrible poison ivy

The old gardener watches, as up it shoots

It looks down on the old mans soil covered boots

But his secateurs are sharp, he cuts into the roots

I feel sorry for that poor old ivy

Yet the tree breathes again, as ivy loses its grip

And the leaves from the ivy begin to slip

The unwanted host can no longer strip

For it is dying, that poisonous ivy
