Foggy Foggy Night
The lamps emit their amber glow
Lighting up the streets below
Cross pathway leading to nowhere
Past Autumn trees laid so bare.
The bench where we once sat and kissed
Now shrouded in a ghostly mist
Where are you now my sweetest love
Do you sit with God above?
This damn war took you overseas
To fight our countries enemies
Some days I come here, sit and linger
Twirl the ring upon my finger.
Hoping that you’ll re-appear
That mist will go –just disappear
We’ll sit here kissing once again
You’ll take away my constant pain.
I sit here thinking that you might
On this a foggy foggy night
