Are you in Heaven?

Are you in Heaven?

Has it been five years seems like just yesterday

I held you when you cried, kissed your tears away,

I’m not sure if you’re here, or in Gods keeping

are you in heaven, or are you just sleeping?

The only thing left inside is an emptiness

floods of tears I’ve cried, the heartache, the stress,

When I think of you my heart it starts leaping

are you in heaven, or are you just sleeping?

There are days its so hard just to carry on

then I think how you fought and those thoughts are gone,

The memories come back in my mind they are seeping

are you in heaven, or are you just sleeping?

Your mum and myself struggle on with our life

the easiest of tasks fills us both with such strife,

Then sometimes it feels like you are here – peeping

are you in heaven, or are you just sleeping?

In your bedroom your things, they lie undisturbed

I enter each day with my mind unperturbed,

Some times I sit on your bed quietly weeping

are you in heaven, or are you just sleeping?

Some say it was Gods will, it was meant to be

those words don’t give comfort, they crucify me,

They’re a generalisation a statement sweeping

rejected by heaven while you are just sleeping.

We look for the signs, perhaps a white feather

a Robin popping up in inclement weather,

We realise you’re not here, but in Gods safekeeping

We know you’re in heaven and not just sleeping.
